to authorities at a Buddhist temple in an area formerly held by anti-government protestors
Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Bangkok, Thailand. Buildings smoldered across central Bangkok
early Thursday and troops exchanged sporadic fire with pockets of holdouts a day after the
army routed anti-government protesters in a push to end Thailand's deadliest political

The body of an anti-government "red shirt" protester is wrapped in Buddhists robes
at a temple where protesters found shelter in central Bangkok May 20, 2010. Thai
authorities restored order in Bangkok on Thursday after a night of rioting and fires
that veered towards anarchy as troops took control of an encampment occupied by
thousands of anti-government protesters for six weeks. Hundreds who had taken
refuge in a temple were coaxed out by police with loudspeakers urging them to go
home. Six bodies were found inside.
