Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra returns to Bangkok 17 months after being ousted in a coup d'etat. His proxy was elected to power in December 2007, paving the way for his return to face charges of corruption.
Here we see the gathering of supporters at the airport, the new Interior Minister shaking his fist in victory, Thaksin's ten second greeting to well wishers, two of his footballers (Manchester City) basking in the glory, and his arrival at the Supreme Court to surrender to the law (he has been a fugitive from several court cases). He was released on bail put up by his daughter.
